A Time of Reflection

As the New Year approaches, it can be a great time of reflection of all that you have accomplished over the past year. Most of us simply bypass this step and move on to creating new goals which is great, but did you learn or celebrate anything?
Reflecting on my health and fitness journey, it took me well into the year to really listen to myself on what I actually needed during the time. I was on year two of working with my own fitness coach to achieve my lofty goals when my body really began to be grouchy with me about my gut health. So about mid-year, I needed to shift gears and focused more on making that a priority rather than simply hitting my macros or my workouts. And the most magical things started to unfold which included some herbal remedies for my gut along with eating tailored to my needs and my workouts improved! I am still healing, but the goal is so much clearer now.
So, when I think about what I have accomplished this year and reflect on my goals for 2026, I whole heartedly want to continue to build on the foundation I have created for myself. It does not always need to be a new goal. Sometimes the better way to think about it is how else can I approach this particular goal? There is usually more than one path to get there. I know that if I continue to really focus on what my body needs at the time, I will still reach my destination, but possibly through an unknown path.
The last piece that I will leave with you is this, keep is stupid simple. When you focus on too many things and your plate is overloaded, it can be really easy to drop the plate. We inherently do best when we focus on a small win and re-create that win on a daily basis.
That is when success is achieved

in a non-overwhelming fashion. We have enough stress in life, no need to add to it. And then celebrate! Tell your friends and family or do something nice for yourself to recognize your efforts. When we feel good about what we have done it helps us to stay motivated and to keep going.
What are your reflections for this year? Help inspire others by sharing your story too.
