It's a new year and I want to change, but....
I feel stuck! More often than not, we are overwhelmed by all the changes that we would like to make but we don't know how to get started. There just seems to be too many, and there probably are too many ideas of how you would like your life to be different. Being motivated to tackle several things takes a lot of determination and we have to remind ourselves that our determination "muscle" so to speak is already used up a lot during the day so we may only have so much left.

A Time of Reflection
As the New Year approaches, it can be a great time of reflection of all that you have accomplished over the past year. Most of us simply bypass this step and move on to creating new goals which is great, but did you learn or celebrate anything? Reflecting on my health and fitness journey, it took me well into the year to really listen to myself on what I actually needed during the time. I was on year two of working with my own fitness coach to achieve my lofty goals when my

My Why...
Back in my early thirties, when I went through my first big identity transformation, I knew that my pain would lead to passion and purpose. I know that I am not alone in my previous struggles to my relationship with food. For a long time, it was a way for me to escape the real feelings I was having about life at the time and about myself. When I truly became passionate about fitness, it was not just the physical release, but more about a way to believe in myself and my abi

A Season of Change: How to start your Transformation
Throughout social media, we are flooded with people who have completed amazing transformations with their health and fitness, but the question left unanswered is, how did they get motivated to get going? Everyone can provide a different answer to that question because it can be quite personal. For instance, as we age, we become more aware of how our bodies need different actions in order to perform its best and if you are someone who wants to still travel or play with the gr

The never-ending journey...
When you are young and ambitious, you might have said the phrase, "I just want to get to my perfect size", or "I want to look more like (insert your physical idol at the time)". As we get older, you might hear yourself saying, "I just want to be able to keep up with my kids or grandkids" or "I really don't want to physically hurt anymore." The moral of the story is, we really never stop having health and fitness goals because our mental and physical beings are always evolving

An Attitude of Gratitude
At 49 years old, I have embraced the emotional and spiritual balance that gratitude brings to life even though that is not always easy on our health and fitness journey. From even the onset of puberty, I did not have the best relationship with food or my body. I used to dream that someone would create a Reeses peanut butter cup that would help you lose weight! How insane would that be ;) And further along in college I actually restricted my food along with over exercising.

Pain to Passion and Purpose
Beginning from the young age of 13 years old, I began the ever-evolving chase of weight loss. The summer before high school I refused to start school on the heavier side and lost about twenty pounds that summer. I did so by simply brisk walking and watching what I ate on a daily basis. This seems so easy compared to the obstacles that confront me now at the beautiful age of 49 years old! As you may have guessed, I have had quite the roller coaster ride over the years trying
